White Samsung Galaxy Note Review : It’s Here!
Is it a phone or is it a tablet? Actually the White Samsung Galaxy Note is both, and it looks as if Samsung has hit a home run with it’s new tablet/phone hybrid. The newly released Galaxy Note is now the largest hand-held device which is marketed as a phone. It has a amazingly big screen measuring 5.3 inches, which has many consumers wondering whether the White Samsung Galaxy Note is a giant phone or a mini tablet. Well you can call it whatever you want, but one thing is certain – the White Samsung Galaxy Note has a bucket load of high end capabilities which make it absolutely worthy of consideration. If you’re on the hunt for a smartphone or tablet this season, then the all-in-one White Samsung Galaxy Note is one device you don’t want to overlook.

White Samsung Galaxy Note: Design and Dimensions
Of course, the first thing you will notice when you glance at the White Samsung Galaxy Note is it’s large size. The frame measures 5.78 x 3.27 x 0.38 inches (146.85 x 82.95 x 9.65mm) which makes it a bit bulky, but still easily graspable. Considering how big this device is, Samsung has managed to keep it’s weight fairly light – 6.28 ounces (178 g). This is a quality that Samsung has become quite good at, with the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 models are also being very light-weight. The White Samsung Galaxy Note is encased in plastics but doesn’t feel cheap at all, in fact it feels very solid.
As with most other Samsung devices, the front of the White Samsung Galaxy Note is remarkably simple with only the logo and a home screen button visible. On the front of the Samsung Galaxy Note the camera lens and light sensor can barely be seen on the black model, and are unobtrusive on the white model. Just be aware, the white version of the Galaxy Note has not been released in many markets yet, but is most definitely on it’s way. The left side of the White Samsung Galaxy Note has a volume rocker, and on the top you will find a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the right side is a power-lock/unlock button, and the micro USB port is located on the bottom. Following up, the 8MP camera lens is on the back of the White Samsung Galaxy Note in the top center of the device, with the speaker and smart-pen stylus docking port on the bottom.
White Samsung Galaxy Note: Display
The ultimate achievement of the White Samsung Galaxy Note is the 5.3 inch WXGA Super HD AMOLED Gorilla Glass display, which has a resolution of 1200 x 800. It is by far the largest display of any smartphone, and just blows away the competition. It has a pixel density of 285 ppi which even rivals the iPhone 4S Retina display. In terms of sheer vibrancy and beauty, it will amaze even the most hard-core Apple loyalist. The White Samsung Galaxy Note’s capacitive touch screen employs the Super AMOLED engineering first introduced by Samsung with the Galaxy S2. It has since received rave reviews for its splendid colors, detailed contrast levels, and wide viewing angles. The colors on the White Samsung Galaxy Note’s display are vibrant and gorgeous, and even small text are crystal clear and can be seen distinctly with little difficulty. This is exactly the kind of display screen you would want in a high-end tablet computer. Of course it is a big selling point for Samsung, and a major reason why the Galaxy Note is off to a great start as far as marketability is concerned.
White Samsung Galaxy Note: Processing and Functionality
The White Samsung Galaxy Note is powered by a dual core 1.4 GHz Exynos processor (Now 1.5 GHz SnapDragon in U.S. version) with 1GB of RAM, and either 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage (upgradable to another 32GB). This provides enough power under the hood to make browsing extremely fast, and multi-tasking a breeze. Opening a mix of apps with the White Samsung Galaxy Note is effortless and snappy, with no lag time involved. Web sites load quickly, and browsing the Internet is really much easier with the Galaxy Note since it can readily access sites other than just mobile sites designed for phones. The S-Pen (smart pen) stylus is an inventive feature which uses the same Wacom technology that graphic artists use. It allows use of the screen without finger smudges, and has a button which activates unique features exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy Note. With the S-Pen it is actually possible to draw on the screen, or even jot down notes as in a notebook.
The White Samsung Galaxy Note runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread (Ice Cream Sandwich will be available in 2012), and utilizes the extremely easy to use TouchWiz interface developed by Samsung. The device comes bundled with the usual Android apps, but also includes software designed for tablet computers. Samsung went all out when including their software package with the White Samsung Galaxy Note. There are lots of goodies that will be sure to keep users happy as well as allow additional functionality, with bundled apps such as AllShare, Mini Diary, Polaris Office, Readers Hub, Social Hub, Video Maker, and exclusive to the Galaxy Note – S Memo and S Planner. Another neat feature is the gyroscopic zoom which the White Samsung Galaxy Note uses to pan in and out onscreen when tilting the device in various applications. Very cool.

Re: voice memo
Is this speech to text? Can I dictate notes and capture them as text for future use? Can I add to the calender by voice, or make entries to the phone book or address book by voice?
Is this speech to text? YES!
Can I dictate notes and capture them as text for future use? YES!
Can I add to the calender by voice, or make entries to the phone book or address book by voice? This one is a little harder to answer because there are a few steps to take to do it, but in a way, yes! You’ll have to use it to see what I mean.
